What can go inside HealthFirst mail-in sharps container?
The following items can be placed in our sharps containers:
- Dental needles and caps
- Medical needles, caps, blades, lancets, and suture needles
- Anesthetic cartridges (glass carpules) with visible blood
- Broken glass with blood on it
- Syringes
- Any vials with trace amounts of blood
- Used epinephrine auto-injectors (Auvi-Q)
- Retainer bands and orthodontic wire
- Burs/Diamonds
- Extracted teeth (with no amalgam)
In summary, if it can puncture the skin or possibly contain blood, it should go in a HealthFirst sharps container.
Do I have to pay return shipping?
No. Prepaid UPS boxes (sharps mailback products) and prepaid USPS boxes (medical waste products) are included in the cost of each product.
Can I use a HealthFirst waste management solution to dispose of red bags, sharps containers not tied to a disposal service, and other biohazardous waste?
Yes, absolutely. We will compliantly dispose of all items in the containers and provide a certificate of destruction through OnTraq. However, do not dispose of loose sharps in the 8-gallon or 18-gallon containers.
